Biography

John Ehde, born in 1962, is one of Scandinavia´s most versatile cellists with a broad range of activities on his schedule. In the contemporary field he has premiered more than 50 solo and chamber works and he enjoys a close collaboration with the danish jazz elite.
The solo CD “Sonatas & Scenes” (2010) was labeled »Recording of the Year« in its category by Music Web International.

He has worked as principal cellist in the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Sweden (1989-99), Trondheim SO, Norway and Zealand SO, Denmark.
During his years in Vienna he was a regular assistant with the Vienna Philharmonic.

Between 2006 and 2017 he was cello teacher at Malmö Academy of Music and has given masterclasses in numerous countries around the world.

Since 2019 member of Rudersdal Chamber Players who is, among other things, the founder of Rudersdal Summer Concerts. The chamber soloists had a successful tour to Russia in 2019. They like to perform theme concerts, with a mix of new and old music, lectures and poetry. John Ehde has toured as a soloist and chamber musician in large parts of Europe as well as in Canada, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong and has many recordings behind him on labels such as Dacapo Records, Caprice, Kontrapunkt, CDKlassisk. As a soloist and chamber musician he has toured throughout Europe, Canada, US, Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Vietnam.
